The doors are heavier. Tap it back in with your hammer. Slide the pin back into the hinge. Insert the hinge pin into the hole in the stopper assembly from above so that the shank of the pin extends below the assembly.

Installing a hinge pin door stop is an easy and inexpensive way to correct this. If you re putting on on an exterior door you should add at least two door stops. A door that opens too wide can damage your walls. Place the door stop pin into the pin slot on the hinge and situate the hinge pin with a gently hammer action tapping lightly.

If you you have a door that is swinging and hitting a wall or other objects in your room there is an easy way to control how far the door can open. The padded door bumpers will prevent damage to the door when the stop is used. The hinge pin door stop will be an alternative pin which will install in place of the original pin and have the door stop attached to it. Note the direction that the hinge pin is facing the flat part is against the door the round part hits the molding.

The hinge pin door stop will have an adjustable threaded screw that you can turn to widen or narrow the gap you wish to set.
